Community Street Libraries

A good friend of mine has alerted me to a little free library not too far from where we live. I managed to pass through the area today and found not only the pretty little thing she mentioned but also another one just a few meters away! Great job to the Town of Walkerville for this fantastic community project promoting literacy and reading.

It does not take much. With  this teeny tiny house, bibliophagists can borrow, swap, or donate a book - no commitment, just old fashioned generosity and a big desire to share the love of books!

I took out a slim volume, published in 1971, which seems intent to convince readers that Perkin Warbeck was truly Richard, Duke of  York! Will soon let you know how this yarn unfolds.

Reading is my secret power!

Book Week! Following this year's theme of "Reading is my secret power" Encycloninja put together a Super Reader shirt and Zia's ever reliable red cape! Super fun day for the little superheroes!

Tiny Timmy

Encycloninja has been hooked on the series since my colleague gifted him with a four-book collection two Christmases ago. We've recently found out that Tim Cahill will be releasing Book 10 (The New Coach) in October. Now that's we call a - goal!

Our good friend Louie Laudonia's collection of spaghetti recipes is now available!

Spaghetti Madness is a straightforward, satisfying, stimulating cookbook which breaks down the cooking process into a series of easy simple steps. Oh, O'Connell's!

Ten years ago, I stumbled upon this book shop in Hindley St. and this is where I my infatuation with Graham Greene started. To my great dismay, I couldn’t find this book shop when I returned to Adelaide. The forces of the universe have aligned and I recently discovered O’Connell’s new location at the Station Arcade (whew!). The shop has been trading for almost 60 years now and we sure would like it to keep going on.
